The MAAC announced the 2014 All-MAAC teams and the 2014 Water Polo All-Academic team on Friday night during the 2014 MAAC Water Polo banquet. Three members of the Siena Water Polo team were to the All-MAAC Second Team and six Saints were named to the All-Academic team.
Lea Allen, Jacquelyn Verdon and Stephanie Bundas were named to the 2014 All-MAAC Second team.
Allen played in 16 games this season after missing time with a broken thumb. Allen scored 34 goals and 11 assists for 45 points. Allen shot a team high .472 percent, recorded 20 steals and 15 ejections drawn. Allen finished her career in the top-5 with 231 career points and 144 goals.
Verdon scored 40 goals and 10 assists for 50 total points. Verdon shot .370 and recorded 20 steals and 21 ejections drawn. Verdon scored the game-winning goal in their 10-9 win over Saint Francis in the final weekend of MAAC play on April 12.
Bundas led the Saints in scoring with 54 goals and finished second on the team with 76 total points. Bundas tallied 22 assists and shot .425 while recording 30 steals and 30 ejections drawn.
The Saints had six members named to the 2014 MAAC All-Academic team. . To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Wagner College led all schools with 9 members named to the team. Siena College followed with 6 student-athletes, while Iona College and Villanova University each had 5 representatives. Marist College and Saint Francis Brooklyn each had 3 members, and VMI added 1 representative.
