The Siena Water Polo team won both of its games Saturday, defeating Cal Lutheran 11-9 and Occidental 12-8. Stephanie Bundas scored seven goals in both victories for the Saints.
In a tightly contested first game Siena stayed one step ahead of Cal Lutheran in the second half to hold on for the victory. Bundas scored all three first quarter goals for the Saints with Clare Bryar and Jacquelyn Verdon scoring in the second as the Regals lead 6-5 going into halftime.
A five goal third quarter, with three goals by Bundas and one each by Taylor Young and Verdon, gave Siena a 10-8 lead heading into the final frame. After Kaylee Kastrup pulled Cal Lutheran to within one, Bundas put it away for good, scoring with 2:01 remaining.
Madeline Hurley and Carly Jackson-Clark each had seven saves in one half of work, with Hurley earning the victory.
In the second game Siena and Occidental were tied after one quarter of play, when a four goal second quarter allowed the Saints to open a 7-4 lead. Jasmine Carillo scored the first of her two goals to open up the second quarter scoring, with Young contributing one goal and Bundas two in the frame.
After being down as much as five in the fourth Occidental would pull to within three with 5:36 remaining before Carrillo's second goal with 3:29 left would give the Saints the final score of the game in the victory.
Jackson-Clark saved 13 shots in the second victory for the Saints.
Siena returns home next Saturday, for their first of three home games this season, taking on Utica at 11 a.m. in the Siena Swim Center.
