Despite St. Bonaventure rallying to score the final four goals, Siena Women's Lacrosse held on to win its second straight, 12-11 over the Bonnies in Western New York. Senior attack Shannon O'Connor and sophomore midfielder Briana Sirianni led the Saints with hat tricks.
Junior attack Sarah Croutier added three points and scored the game-winning goal for Siena (3-4) which has topped St. Bonaventure (0-5) each of the last two seasons after the Bonnies had won the first seven meetings between the programs.
St. Bonaventure led 6-5 following a tightly contested first half. But the Saints would rally to score eight of the next nine goals to reclaim a 12-7 lead following back-to-back Croutier scores with 16:28 to play.
The Bonnies wouldn't go away though and ultimately responded with the next four scores to rally within a goal with 2:04 to play on a Gabrielle Bradley tally. But junior captain Lauren Smith would win the crucial ensuing draw control as Siena salted away the final seconds.
Senior attack Alyssa Treanor added a pair of goals and four groundballs for the Saints which scored six of their goals on free-position attempts. Senior Danielle DeLisio and junior Ashley Holdridge split time in goal again with each playing a half and making five saves apiece.
Scarlett Jaworski and Kaitlin Jennings scored three points on two goals and an assist apiece for St. Bonaventure which has lost 21 straight. Bradley, Rachel Perla and LeighAnn Stauffer each added two goals for a balanced Bonnies squad.
Siena continues its three-game road trip to end non-conference play Tuesday with a 3 p.m. opening draw at Binghamton.
