Siena Water Polo won two of three contests in the Hartwick Invite Saturday, defeating Connecticut College 14-8, Mercyhurst 10-8 and losing to Hartwick 18-7.
In the first game against Connecticut College the Saints jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind two goals by Stephanie Bundas, and goals by Jacquelyn Verdon and Taylor Young. The Camels cut the lead to 6-4 by halftime but the Saints outscored Connecticut College 8-4 in the second half for the 14-8 victory. Jasmine Carillo scored four goals for Siena including two in the fourth quarter to help finish off the Camels.
In the second game Hartwick was able to jump out to a 7-0 lead before Bundas got the Saints on the board with 4:27 remaining in the second quarter. Siena would score four forth quarter goals but would ultimately lose, 18-7. Seniors Bundas and Verdon would score all seven goals for the Saints in the game.
In a tightly played third game, Siena took a 2-1 lead over Hartwick after the first quarter and 4-3 lead into halftime, behind three Bundas goals and one goal from Clare Bryar. The Lakers would score the last two goals of the game after Verdon's third goal of the game, but the Saints held on for the 10-8 victory.
Siena opens up MAAC play next Saturday with home contests against Wagner and Villanova at 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
