Six Saints scored multiple goals led by six tallies from senior midfielder Erin Mossop as Siena Women's Lacrosse overpowered LIU Brooklyn 20-8. Winners of four in a row, the surging Saints have outscored their opponents 62-23 during their impressive streak.
Junior attack Sarah Croutier netted four points and became just the ninth player in the program's 19-season history to eclipse 100 career points. Senior attack Alyssa Treanor added five points on four goals for the Saints (5-4) which swept their three-game road trip to conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule.
Siena scored the first four goals and took a 10-5 advantage at the half in leading throughout. The Saints, which eclipsed 20 goals for the second time on the young season which is just one goal off the program record, continued to strike in the second half including a seven-goal run in cruising to the win.
Junior captain Lauren Smith stuffed the stat sheet with a hat trick, six draw controls and three caused turnovers for the Saints which held commanding edges in both shots (37-22) and draw controls (20-10).
Siena's defense was equally impressive in stifling LIU Brooklyn's (2-4) attack which entered the day ranked seventh nationally in scoring averaging 14.8 goals. Senior Danielle DeLisio made seven saves in the first half and junior Ashley Holdridge added two stops over the final 30 minutes as the Saints held the potent Blackbirds offense to single digits for the first time this season.
Dale Cosgrave and Sierra O'Connor led LIU Brooklyn with four points apiece, while the nation's second leading scorer Jenn Peters added a hat trick.
The Saints will look to carry their momentum into conference play as they host perennial MAAC power Fairfield in the league opener Saturday at 1 p.m. at Siena Turf Field.
