The Siena Water Polo team lost both of it's contests to open up MAAC play Saturday, losing to Wagner 18-7, and to Villanova 12-6. The Saints honored their five seniors in the Class of 2015 with a Senior Day ceremony before the Villanova game.
In the first game Wagner jumped out to a 4-0 before freshman Clare Bryar got the Saints on the board with 1:23 remaining in the first. Jacquelyn Verdon would be the first senior to score for Siena, on a penalty shot with 6:24 remaining in the second.
The Saints and Seahawks would each score three goals in the third period, while seniors Stephanie Bundas and Jasmine Carrillo would each score a goal in the fourth for Siena. Senior Madeline Hurley led the Saints' goalies in the game tallying seven saves.
In the second game the Saints would find late offense scoring the last three goals of the game, but it was too little too late as the Wildcats held on for the victory. Three of the four position-playing seniors would score in the game with Kori Swieter picking up one goal and one assist in the loss.
The Saints have a quick turnaround as they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. tomorrow for MAAC games against St. Francis (NY) at 12 p.m. and Marist at 5:30 p.m.
