Following a one-year hiatus, Siena Women's Lacrosse is heading back to the MAAC Tournament. The Saints clinched their fifth postseason berth in the last six years following a 14-9 win at Quinnipiac.

The Saints (9-7, 4-3) would clinch the No. 4 seed in the six-team MAAC Tournament with a win in their regular season finale against Niagara Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Siena Turf Field. Should the Saints defeat the Purple Eagles, Siena would host a MAAC Quarterfinals contest Saturday in Loudonville.

Sophomore midfielder Cara McQuillan, senior attack Shannon O'Connor and junior captain Lauren Smith all netted hat tricks for Siena which has now posted its second most victories in the program's 19 seasons. The 2005 MAAC Finalist squad holds the program record with 11 wins.

Siena out-shot Quinnipiac (2-13, 1-6) 36-16 and held a 17-8 edge in draw controls, but needed a big second half to shake the Bobcats on their Senior Day. Trailing 5-3 late in the first half, the Saints scored four straight goals to reclaim the lead for good and ultimately led 7-6 at the break.

Quinnipiac would keep things close, rallying back within 9-8 with 16:31 to play, but the Saints responded with the next three goals to secure their third straight win and punch their tickets to the MAAC Tournament. Siena outscored the Bobcats 7-3 in the second half, holding a 17-5 edge in shots and a 9-2 advantage in draw controls in the stanza.

Junior Kate Callahan, who became the eighth different Saints to crack double figures in scoring for a balanced offensive attack this season, netted the game-winning goal.

For McQuillan, it was her third hat trick in the past four games. Smith, who also won a game-high five draw controls, posted her second straight three-goal game. Senior midfielder Erin Mossop, who leads the Saints with 51 points this season, added three points and a game-high three caused turnovers.

Kyra Ochwat led all scorers with four goals and five points for Quinnipiac, while Kathleen DeVito added a hat trick.
