St. John's Prevails Over Saints in Defensive Battle

Sept. 15, 2015

Final Stats

Defense took center stage Tuesday night in Queens as Siena and St. John's combined for just three shots on target. But Gabriel Camara's goal in the 15th minute was the difference as the Red Storm shut out Siena Soccer 1-0.

Overall, St. John's (1-5) held a 12-4 edge in shots and a 7-6 margin in corners. But the Saints (0-4-2) held their Big East foes without a shot over the final 25 minutes and just two attempts on target for the match.

All of Siena's four shots came over the final 18 minutes. Junior striker Junior Rosero attempted the Saints' lone shot on target in the 88th minute, but it was saved by St. John's Andrew Withers who recorded the clean sheet.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Mancini made one save in his collegiate debut for Siena which suffered its third straight, hard-fought 1-0 road defeat.

The Saints continue their five-match road trip Saturday night with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Binghamton.
