Final Stats

Briana Flagg had 15 kills to lead Siena to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21 and 25-17) sweep of Hartford Wednesday night in Connecticut. Christina Monroe added a season-high nine kills in just 13 swings for the Saints.

Senior Erin Bies led Siena (2-4) with nine digs, and junior setter Haley Howell dished out 35 assists with two blocks, five digs and an ace.

Hartford (0-4) got nine kills from Kate Henchy. Paola Llerandi delivered a match-high 10 digs in a losing effort.

The Saints jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first set, and Hartford got no closer than 18-16 the rest of the way. The Hawks scored six of the first eight points in the second set and led until Bies served the Saints on a mini 4-0 run midway through the set. The lead was just 20-18 before the Saints called timeout and rallied to win five of the last eight points.

Siena was in control throughout after intermission thanks to the service of Kiara Pierre. Siena scored nine straight points with Pierre serving to grab a commanding 11-4 lead and never looked back.

Sonja Vasovic and Annie Stock each added six kills for Siena. Vasovic had just two errors in 12 swings on the right side. Shantraie Rodriguez came off the bench to kill two of her five attacks, including the final point of the match. Five different Siena players managed at least five digs.

The Saints have nine days off before they travel to Philadelphia to partake in the Villanova Classic September 11.
