Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

Oct. 7, 2016

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – For the 14th consecutive season the Siena Women's Soccer program has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with a 2015-16 NSCAA Team Academic Award. The Saints received the honor for meeting the criteria of achieving a minimum team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entirety of the 2015-16 academic year.

The Saints excelled both athletically and academically during a banner 2015-16 school year. On the field the team captured the program's second MAAC Tournament Championship, while in the classroom they boasted a 3.40 cumulative team GPA.

Siena led all of the department's 22 Division I athletic programs with 17 student athletes named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll during the 2015-16 school year, and set a program record with 13 MAAC All-Academic Team selections. While inclusion on the MAAC All-Academic Team also necessitates a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, it does not include freshmen or first-year student athletes whereas the MAAC Academic Honor Roll does. Kirby O'Keefe '16 highlighted the team's individual academic honorees in being tabbed a CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team selection.
