The Siena Water Polo team defeated Washington and Jefferson 10-7 in the second game of the day but fell to Gannon by a final of 13-7 to earn a split in their season opener.

In the first game of the afternoon for the Saints, Siena scored three goals, one each by Fiona Dretzka, Samantha Voelker and Daniella Fuertes. Voelker would add two more goals in the second half, on ten shots which was tied for the team lead to lead the Saints.

Sarah Abbott made seven saves in goal for Siena while Carly Jackson-Clark added five saves.

In the second game, Voelker led the Saints once again with four goals on nine shots.

Abbott and Jackson Clark finished with eight saves a piece which was tied for the team lead.

Siena returns to the pool Sunday when they are set to square off against Mercyhurst and CSU Monterey Bay. The first game is set to begin at 10:15 a.m.
