Vanessa VanderZalm scored eight points to lead Vermont past Siena Women's Lacrosse 17-11 in Burlington. Senior captain Sarah Croutier led the Saints with season-highs of five goals and four draw controls.

Vermont (3-5) opened a 6-2 lead midway through the first half and led by at least three goals the rest of the way. The Catamounts claimed an 8-5 lead at the half and a mini three-goal run pushed their lead to six 10 minutes into the second half.

Croutier continued her strong start to her senior season with her fourth four-plus goal game in the Saints' (5-3) first eight games, to move into fourth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 145 career points.

Classmate and fellow captain Lauren Smith also achieved several milestones. Smith dished out an assist to become the 11th player in the program's 20 seasons to eclipse 100 career points. She also recorded her 100th career groundball in the contest to join Lindsey Rosecrans '09 as the only players in program history with 100 points, 100 groundballs and 100 draw controls.

VanderZalm finished with six goals and two assists to go along with four groundballs and four draw controls for UVM. Courtney Cole and Alison Bolt (five points) each added hat tricks for the Catamounts.

Freshman attack Lynnzee Miller contributed her sixth hat trick in her first eight collegiate games for the Saints.

Siena concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule Tuesday when the Saints host Bryant at 4 p.m. at Siena Turf Field.
