The Saints scored the final six goals of the first half, but Niagara accounted for all eight second half scores to rally past Siena Women's Lacrosse 14-8 in a seesaw affair in Western New York. Senior captain Lauren Smith led the Saints with a hat trick.
Niagara (8-7, 4-2) harbored a 6-2 lead midway through the first half, but Siena (7-9, 2-5) erupted for six goals over the final 11:22 to claim an 8-6 advantage and all the momentum heading into the break.
However, the Purple Eagles opened the second half with three goals in the first 2:17 to reclaim the lead for good. Niagara would ultimately hold a 10-8 lead for more than 15 minutes during the middle half of the final stanza, but Siena couldn't get any closer and the Purple Eagles added four insurance goals over the final nine minutes to seal their victory.
Senior captain Sarah Croutier finished with three points on two goals and an assist and freshman attack Lynnzee Miller added a pair of goals for the Saints which have dropped four straight.
Cailyn Negus scored four goals off the bench for Niagara which received eight of its scores from reserves. Sarah Arndt added a hat trick.
The Saints conclude the regular season next Wednesday when they host rival Marist at Siena Turf Field at 4 p.m.
