LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena Women's Lacrosse scored 10 unanswered goals spanning 23 minutes en route to a thorough 14-6 victory over Quinnipiac at Siena Turf Field. Senior captain Sarah Croutier led the way with six points and scored the game-winning goal.
Following three straight one-goal games, the Saints (7-5, 2-1) left little doubt in this one. Siena scored the final seven goals of the first half to claim a commanding 8-2 lead at the break. The Saints out-shot Quinnipiac (2-9, 0-3) 20-6 in the first half while winning 10 of 11 draw controls.
Croutier scored the final three of her four first half goals in just 1:50, capping her opening stanza scoring spree with 13 seconds remaining before intermission. She finished with five goals for the afternoon and also picked up seven groundballs and won three draw controls in a dominant all-around performance.
Siena concluded its impressive run with the first three goals of the second half to open an 11-2 lead. The Saints would ultimately hold the Bobcats scoreless for 25 minutes in improving to a perfect 3-0 in conference encounters since Quinnipiac joined the MAAC.
Lauren Anglim, Michelle Schwartz and Lauren Smith all scored twice for the Saints which held decisive advantages in shots (35-17), groundballs (33-24) and draw controls (16-6).
Siena was equally impressive defensively, turning the Bobcats over 23 times while pressuring Quinnipiac into 10 failed clears. Freshman goalie Samantha Horton made five saves, allowing just three goals in 51-plus minutes of action. Senior defender Liz Stutzmann added four groundballs and a team-high three caused turnovers on her 22nd birthday.
Cara O'Meally scored twice and Loren Antonacci added a pair of assists for the Bobcats which have lost six straight. Kyle Larkin was impressive in goal, making 10 of her 14 saves in the first half.
The Saints return to action Saturday when they head to defending MAAC Tournament Champion Fairfield for a noon draw on ESPN3.
