Feb. 18, 2017 Siena Water Polo begins its 2017 campaign on Saturday at the Laker Invite in Erie, PA. The Saints will play four games this weekend at the tournament.
Siena opens with host Mercyhurst at noon Saturday before finishing day one with a matchup against Gannon at 4:15 p.m. On Sunday, the Saints will take on George Washington at 11:15 a.m. and Saint Francis (PA) at 3:00 p.m.
Five Things to Know About Siena Water Polo Before the Season Opener
1.Head Coach Ellen Howe enters her tenth full season leading the program.
2.The Saints return top goal scorer from 2016, Clare Bryar. Bryar scored 47 goals and added 16 assists to lead Siena with 63 total points.
3.Siena also returns goalie Carly Jackson-Clark who made 18 starts last season, making 119 saves.
4.The Saints were voted seventh in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Siena finished in seventh place last season.
5.Siena will play 19 straight games away from home to open the season. The Saints home opener will be on Sunday, March 26 when they host MAAC opponents VMI and Villanova.
