Feb. 19, 2017 Siena Water Polo finished play at the Laker Invite in Erie, PA on Sunday. The Saints dropped game one to George Washington 11-8 and fell 10-9 to Saint Francis (PA) to close out their opening weekend of competition. Clare Bryar led Siena with 13 goals in the two matchups.
Game One: George Washington 11, Siena 8
In the Saints' first game of the day, Bryar and freshman Diana Fernandez scored three goals each, while Sarah Abbott and Nichol Feldtz added one score each. Fernandez led the team with six ejections drawn. Goalie Kennedy Joseph made ten saves and added one steal for Siena.
Game Two: Saint Francis 10, Siena 9
In the final tournament game, Bryar exploded for all nine goals for Siena. Fernandez continued her strong start to the season, adding three assists, three steals, and three ejections drawn. Joseph made 16 saves in goal for Siena.
The Saints will now travel to California for their next six games. The trip begins with a matchup against Whittier in Whittier, CA on Tuesday, February 21. The game will begin at 10 p.m. eastern/7 p.m. pacific.
