Feb. 24, 2017 Siena Water Polo dropped the second game of its trip to the Golden State on Thursday night. The Saints were narrowly defeated 16-13 by the Redlands Bulldogs. Clare Bryar led Siena with seven goals.
The Saints (0-6) took an early 4-2 after the first period. Diana Fernandez, Daniella Fuertes, Nichol Feldtz, and Bryar all scored for Siena in the opening quarter of action. The Bulldogs (1-2) bested the Saints 5-2 in the second stanza to take a halftime lead of 7-6. Kayla Engleman and Bryar recorded the two goals for Siena in the period.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored three goals to Siena's two, increasing their lead to 10-8 with one period remaining. The final stanza was a high scoring period with the two teams combining for 11 goals. Redlands would take the contest, 16-13. Bryar scored four of her goals in the final period for the Saints.
Carly Jackson-Clark led Siena with seven saves in goal. Kennedy Joseph added six. Bryar and Fernandez drew three ejections each for the Saints. Madison Obata led Siena with four assists.
The Saints will compete in the Cal Lutheran Invite on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Siena will open the tournament Friday against Fresno Pacific at 1 p.m. Eastern/ 10 a.m. Pacific. The Saints will also take on CSU Bakersfield on Friday at 6:15 p.m. Eastern/ 3:15 p.m. Pacific.
