April 2, 2017 Siena Men's and Women's Track programs competed at the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant. Both the men and women finished in ninth place overall.
"We had another day of great weather and great race fields and many people took the opportunity to step up and continue improving," said head coach John Kenworthy. "We are now hitting the big races of the season, next week of the season, next week and beyond and these past two weeks have given us some great momentum when the bar is raised. I'm really happy with where we're at and excited to see where we can go."
Michael Rautter led the day off with the 3000m steeplechase. The freshman finished in fourth overall with a time of 10:18.40.
After that came the 1500m for the Saints. Shannon Bauer led the way for the women with a 10th place 4:51.93 time. Kelly Pasko hit her first sub-five minute 1500m with a time of 4:59.36. Dominica Bleichert set a personal best 5:04.02 time.
On the men's side, Travis Fairlee led the way with a sixth place finish of 4:01.89. Paolo Fiore took 10th place with a 4:06.02, while Luciano Fiore won his heat and finished 11th with a time of 4:06.54. Jack O'Hara also won his heat for a 4:07.41 finish.
Agnes Eigo set a personal record 2:30.00 800m time to finish seventh overall. Luciano Fiore led the way for the men in the 800m as he finished in 2:00.11.
Sophomore Sarah Forman led the way for the women in the 5000m. Forman is now second on the all-time list with her 17:37.50 time. Sydney Sericolo set a 57 second personal record to finish in 17:41.17 which is now #4 on the All-Time list. Carolyn Pellegrini (18:47.84) and Ursula Svoboda (19:11.45) both competed in their first track 5000m. Both Meghan McDonough and Annica Penn recorded their first sub-20 minute 5000m in respective times of 19:37.12 and 19:42.11.
William Randall finished 13th place overall with a 15:34.99 finish. Shane Fiust-Klink set a personal record of 15:55.68 that finished in 18th place.
In the 4x800m relay, Fairlee, Fiore, Mahoney and Jacques finished in fourth overall with a time of 8:14.52.
The team will compete at the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday, Apr. 7 in Princeton, New Jersey. Meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
