Senior
Evans Kibet scored his first top overall finish of the season, as he finished first in the Men's 8K at the Great Dane Invitational. Not only did Kibet snag the first individual win for the Saints this season, he also guided Siena to their first team victory of the season, finishing first of 10 teams in the race. The women's team, led by senior
Sarah Forman, finished second in their meet as well, capping an overall solid day for the Saints.
Kibet put up a time of 25:29.1 to take the top spot, beating the second place finisher by exactly three seconds. The clutch finishes to help the team finish first as well came from junior
Stosh Davis and senior
William Randall, as the duo finished fourth and fifth in the field with times of 25:49.7 and 25:52.0. Senior John O'Hara added the dagger to the rest of the field, finishing eighth with a time of 26:17.7 making it four Saints in the top eight finishers.
On the women's side, Forman came in with a time of 18:04.6 for an individual finish of third place. Junior
Sydney Johnson had the second top finish for the Saints, finishing sixth with a time of 18:18.6, setting a new PR and the fifth fastest time in program history.
Carolyn Pellegrini and
Camryn Johnson also finished ninth and tenth rounding out the top 10, coming in with times of 18:37.2 and 18:38.2. Finishing out the points getters was
Anya Schmitt,
Olivia Lomascolo, and
Morgan Serkes, as the trio finished 12
th, 13
th, and 14
th in the field. Four out of the five Saints finishing behind
Sydney Johnson each set personal records in the 5K as well. The Saints, as a team, finished second with 40 points. Their points would be the only other team (Albany) in double-digit points.
The Saints return to the course next Friday, October 19 when they head to New Britain, CT to take part in the CCSU Mini Meet, hosted by Central Connecticut State before playing host to the MAAC Championships at the Crossings of Colonie on Saturday, October 27.
