Saints Look to Wrap Up November on High Note

Men's Basketball Travels to Hofstra Wednesday Night

HEMPSTEAD, NY - Siena Basketball looks to wrap up its November slate on a high note when the Saints travel to Hofstra Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest. Gameday Central coverage commences with The Anderson Group Pregame Show at 6:30 p.m. locally on Talk1300 AM and 98.7 FM, and online at SienaAllAccess.com.

Here's Ten Things to Know About Tonight's Game
1.) Jalen Pickett was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week Monday, after averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks spanning a pair of games last week vs. Patriot League contenders Lehigh and Colgate. The freshman leads the MAAC in both steals (2.5 - 22nd nationally) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.00), and also ranks third in the MAAC in assists (6.0 - 28th nationally), tied for third in threes (16), fourth in blocks (1.2), and ninth in scoring (15.3).
2.) Siena enters play leading the nation in fewest fouls committed per game (12.7). The Saints are surrendering just 11.2 free throw attempts per game.
3.) The Saints also rank in the top-10 nationally in fewest turnovers per game, averaging just 9.0 which is seventh best. Siena ranked 325th out of 351 Division I teams last season, averaging 15.1 turnovers per contest.
4.) Siena leads the MAAC and ranks 42nd nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.39. The Saints were 12th worst nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio last season (0.73).
5.) Siena ranks third in the MAAC averaging 9.0 made threes per game. The Saints averaged 12.0 threes while shooting 39.1% (36-92) from distance over their first three games, but are averaging just 6.0 threes while shooting only 23.4% (18-77) over the past three games.
6.) Evan Fisher scored a career-high 22 points on 9-12 shooting Saturday vs. Colgate. The senior ranks fourth in the MAAC in field goal percentage (.515) and tied for sixth in rebounding (5.7).
7.) Pickett registered seven steals vs. Colgate Saturday, the most by a Siena player since Clarence Jackson also swiped seven on Jan. 4, 2010 at Loyola (MD).
8.) Hofstra leads the all-time series over Siena, 5-3. The programs are set to meet for the eighth time in the past 13 seasons, and fourth year in a row. The home team has won eight of the first nine meetings. 
9.) Hofstra head coach Joe Mihalich is set to coach is 42nd all-time game vs. Siena, having posted a 19-22 record while leading both the Pride and Niagara. The Saints defeated Mihalich's Purple Eagles squad in the 2009 MAAC Championship Game, while Mihalich and Niagara beat the Saints in the 2007 title bout. 
10.) Hofstra has split its first six games, winning all three of its home contests, while going 0-3 on the road. The Pride have won six straight at home dating back to last season. Hofstra was projected to finish third (10 teams) according to the CAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Pride are led by Lute Olson Award Watch List (Nation's Top Division I player) candidate Justin Wright-Foreman, who ranks fifth nationally averaging 27.9 points per game. He is the only player in the nation averaging at least 25 points, five rebounds and four assists per game.
