Final Stats
LOUDONVILLE, NY - Freshman midfielders Kerry Gerety and Julia Pelcher combined for nine goals in Siena Women's Lacrosse 15-11 victory over Lafayette. This is the Saints first three-game win streak since winning four straight from April 11-22 in 2015.
The Leopards (3-4) recorded their first goal of the game from Jen Kirby, who tallied four of Lafayette's goals. Pelcher followed that up with her first goal for Siena (3-3), she would finish the game with five off of six shots. The two teams then exchanged goals back and forth before Kirby put Lafayette up 4-3 off a free position shot.
Pelcher tied it up 4-4 with just under 13 minutes left. Gerety then recorded four straight goals to end the first half. Three of her goals came in the final two minutes of action to push Siena in front 8-4 at the half.
Reigning MAAC Player of the Week, Alexis Deaken, opened the second quarter with a free position shot which was followed by Kiera Young tallying a goal to push Siena ahead 10-4. Lafayette would not back down and caused the Saints to seven turnovers in the second frame. Deaken scored three of Siena's four goals to start the second quarter as the Saints led 12-6 with 17 minutes to play.
Lafayette and the Saints continued to exchange goals back and forth and while both tallied seven goals apiece in the second half, the Saints remained on top to win their third straight 15-11.
Gerety finished the game with four goals, two assists, one ground ball and five draw controls. Deaken tallied a hat trick on three goals and added two ground balls, three draw controls and caused one turnover. Sammy Horton stopped nine shots in goal.
The Saints conclude their four-game homestand on Wednesday, March 21 when they host sister school St. Bonaventure at Siena Turf Field. Gametime is set for 3 p.m.
