Siena Men's Lacrosse fell 13-11 at Binghamton on Tuesday evening. Freshman goalie Anthony Tebbano stopped 17 shots, his sixth game with 10-plus saves and his second most saves all season.
Jon Perotto and Will Talbott-Shere led Binghamton (2-8) with four points apiece. Perotto tallied a hat-trick along with an assist, while Talbott-Shere recorded two goals and two assists. Five other Bearcats scored in the game.
Chris Robertson and Tim Cousin led the Saints (2-5) with three points apiece with each coming from two goals and one assist. Brian Prunty and Mike Reilly both registered two goals each in the game.
Cousin opened up the scoring and put the Saints ahead 1-0 quickly into the first quarter. Robertson added his first goal of the game to extend his goal-scoring streak to 20 games and put Siena up 2-1. The Bearcats rattled off five goals in the opening frame as the led 5-3.
From the first quarter into the second quarter, the Bearcats tallied four unanswered goals and led the Saints 8-3. Cousin tallied his second goal of the game and the only goal for Siena in the frame as Siena trailed 8-4. Both teams would be held scoreless for the final 7:51 of the second quarter as the Bearcats would lead 8-4 at the half.
Binghamton jumped ahead to a 9-4 lead early in the third quarter. Prunty tallied his first goal of the game then Colin McLaughlin and Jack Drillock scored the first goals of their career to cut the deficit to two goals, 9-7. The Bearcats responded with three goals of their own to jump back ahead 12-7, but Robertson put one in the cage to put Siena behind 12-8 at the end of the frame.
Reilly scored back-to-back goals to make it a two-goal game for the Saints as they trailed 12-10 with 12:24 to play. With just under eight minutes to play, Prunty scored his second goal of the game to put the Saints down by one, 12-11. Siena had good looks and battled through the rain, but Binghamton scored with 55 seconds remaining to take the win 13-11.
Besides his one goal, Drillock caused three turnovers, while Nick Matzelevich caused two. Hunter Sanna picked up six ground balls while going 11-for-21 (.524) from the faceoff X.
Siena will host reigning MAAC Champions Monmouth on Saturday, March 31 at Siena Turf Field. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
