LOUDONVILLE, NY - Junior goalkeeper Sammy Horton stopped 14 shots to secure Siena Women's Lacrosse 10-8 victory over Central Connecticut on Friday afternoon. The Saints won two-straight games for the first time since April 2016.

Cameron Ruberti of Central Connecticut (1-4), who tallied a hat-trick, opened up the scoring for the game. Siena (2-4) responded with the next four goals, three of them assisted by Kerry Gerety, who finished the game with three assists and one goal.

The Saints held onto their demanding 4-1 lead for most of the first half, but CCSU would answer back and record five unanswered goals to lead 6-4 at halftime.

Maggie Cifarelli, who scored two goals and two assists on the game, picked up her second goal followed by her first assist to Beth Lumia to tie the game at six all. Julia Pelcher was then able to find the back of the net with a dish from Cifarelli to put the Saints back ahead 7-6.

The two teams then exchanged goals and following an 8-8 tie, Alexis Deaken completed her hat-trick and gave Siena the game winning goal to go up 9-8 with 11:05 to play. Gerety added one for security off a free-position to help secure Siena's 10-8 victory.

Horton notched 14 saves, with eight coming in the second half, six coming in the final nine minutes, including a free position shot with 10 seconds on the clock. Deaken finished the game with four goals, one assist, five ground balls, four draw controls and one caused turnover.

Siena remains in Loudonville, New York for a four-game home-stand when they host Lafayette on Wednesday, March 14 at 3 p.m.
