Following 10 goals in the opening frame, Manhattan topped Siena Women's Lacrosse 17-10 in the Saints road finale. Siena ends their road games having dropped seven contests.
Sophomore Alexis Deaken extended her goal-scoring streak to 25 games as she tallied two goals for the Saints (4-10, 0-5). She now sits at 97 career points after adding two assists to her goals in her second season donning the Green and Gold. Three other Saints scored two goals a piece in the loss.
Sarah Lang registered nine points in the Manhattan (5-9, 2-4) win coming off of four goals and five assists. Molly Fitzpatrick also scored four goals in the win.
Manhattan tallied the first four goals of the game before Julia Pelcher put the Saints on the board with 19:28 left in the opening half. Manhattan responded, but Deaken was right behind to keep Siena in the game trailing, 5-2. Manhattan scored three free position goals along with a goal from Lang, while Annie Brennan added a free position goal as the Saints trailed 9-3.
Julia Sardella and Brennan continued to chip away at the Manhattan lead and with nine seconds left in the opening frame, Deaken scored a free position goal as the Saints trailed the Jaspers 10-6 at the half.
The Jaspers opening the scoring right away in the second half putting Manhattan up 11-6. Sardella and Pelcher scored their second goals of the game, while Deaken added an assist on both to cut Manhattan's lead to three, 11-8.
Manhattan then scored five unanswered goals to jump ahead to a 16-8 lead. Nicole McNeely scored her first goal of the season as the Saints continued to battle with league foe Manhattan. While the Jaspers added another goal, Kiera Young added one more for the Saints to fall 17-10 in the road finale.
Siena will begin a three-game homestand to close out the 2018 season. The Saints will host Quinnipiac on Wednesday, April 18 at 4 p.m.
