Marcos Campos and Joe Drpich each tallied three hits and Phil Madonna scored three runs as the top three hitters in the order propelled Siena Baseball past UMass 5-1 in Amherst. Campos also scored twice while Drpich drove in a pair to pace the Saints.

Five Siena (8-26) hurlers scattered eight hits and just one run in a solid staff effort. Matt Pierce fired three scoreless innings to headline the performance, while Tim Zehnbauer tossed two scoreless frames to pick up the win.

The Saints carried a 2-0 lead into the eighth inning, before pushing across three late insurance runs over the final two frames to put it away. Siena opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third on an RBI double by Drpich, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Brian Kelly. A pair of UMass (10-17) errors paved the way for the Saints to tack on two more runs in the eighth.

The Minutemen avoided the shutout thanks to a Marcus Fry RBI single in the home half of the eighth, but Siena got the run back in the ninth on Drpich's second RBI double of the afternoon to push the final margin back to four and hand slumping UMass its 11th loss in its past 12 games.

The Saints continue their 10-game road trip Saturday when they open a three-game series at two-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Fairfield with doubleheader action beginning at noon.
