LOUDONVILLE, NY – After more than six decades as the majestic centerpiece of the Siena College campus, Siena’s baseball facility will receive a new name. Connors Park will officially be named during a dedication ceremony Friday at 11:45 a.m., just prior to first pitch of the Saints’ regular season finale vs. Saint Peter’s.
Siena Baseball supporters and fans are cordially invited to attend the ceremony and then remain to cheer on the Saints as they look to end the regular season and christen the newly named facility on a high note. The naming dedication ceremony will take place at 11:45 a.m. by home plate, and will conclude with ceremonial first pitches.
Connors Park is being named in honor of the Connors Family, who will be represented by Michael Connors, his brother, Rick, and his son, Brett, who played for the Saints from 2013-16. The Connors Family has been dedicated and committed supporters of Siena College and the baseball program, and was the driving force behind the recent series of renovations that have transformed the baseball facility over the past few years.
Siena Field received $500,000 of major upgrades to the facility in the Summer of 2015. Improvements included a new seating system with stadium chair back and bleacher seating that brought capacity to 370, a new press box with filming platform, new backstop (netting system), decorative entryway, outfield irrigation system to complement the existing infield system, dugout repairs and safety netting, and enhanced storage space. More recently, additional upgrades have been made to the dugouts including a new heating system and flooring, and both the backstop and home plate areas have been turfed.
Leadership from the Connors Family spurred the renovations and, together with support from numerous former players and others, their efforts have helped remake the Siena Baseball facility into one of the premier baseball facilities in the Northeast.
