Top Individual Showings Lead Cross Country at Siena Invitational

Kibet and Forman Finish Top Three at Home Event

LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Siena Men's and Women's Cross Country teams showcased their home course at The Crossings of Colonie Saturday morning as they hosted the Siena Cross Country Invitational. While the men's team finished fifth of eight and the women finishing third of seven, the Saints had multiple top individual finishes to display a successful day on the course.

Senior Sarah Forman was the top finishing Saint on the day, as she led the women's team with a second place finish with a time of 18:13.5. It would be Forman's second straight top five finish, and would be the sixth top time in program history in the women's 5K. The Saints second fastest time came from freshman Olivia Lomascolo, who set the program's record as the fastest time by a freshman and ninth fastest all-time, coming in at 18:22.4 and a seventh place finish. Her time would shatter Forman's previous freshman record from 2015 by 16 seconds. Siena's third top time belonged to junior Camryn Johnson, who came in 12th with a time of 18:43.1.

The men's squad was led by a third place finish from senior Evans Kibet, as he came in at a 25:39.7. Kibet would stick in the top three all race, as the top pack also consisted of Kyle Mueller of Monmouth and Michael Kiernan of Quinnipiac who finished first and second, respectively. Senior John O'Hara was the second Saint across the line, finishing 14th with a time of 26:05.1. Rounding out the Saints top three was freshman Owen Walker, as he settled in 28th with a time of 26:42.5.

"We sat a lot of veterans but got good finishes from some of our top runners," said head coach John Kenworthy. "But we had a couple of good debuts from our freshman, such as Owen Walker who had a good 8K debut. Olivia Lomascolo was our second girl across the line in her debut at Siena. It's encouraging to get some youth in there, and the rest of our top group that we ran had good days. Everyone that toed the line today had good days and that's encouraging as we get into the meat of the season."

The Saints return to the course next Friday, September 14 when they head to South Bend, IN to take part in the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. Meets will commence at 3:30 p.m.
