The Siena Saints Indoor Track and Field season got underway on Saturday afternoon at the Great Dane Classic, hosted by the University of Albany at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center in Staten Island, NY. The Saints put up a good showing on both sides of things, with multiple top five finishes from multiple athletes.
Jack O'Hara led the way for the Saints on the men's side, as he brought home a second place finish in the men's 5000 meter run.
Evans Kibet and
Luciano Fiore finished back-to-back in the mile, as the duo finished third and fourth in the field.
Michael Rautter had a good showing in the 3000 meter, with a 12
th place finish with a time of 8:38.84 to lead the Saints in the event. Lastly, the 4x400 meter men's relay team of Kibet, Fiore,
Jacob Greski and Matthew Jacques finished 13
th overall with a time of 3:33.45.
For the women,
Sarah Forman and
Camryn Johnson also had a strong finishes. Forman would take home the top finish with a second place in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:48.69, while in the 5000 meters Johnson took home a third place finish with a time of 17:56.22.
Carissa Kahn brought home a 10
th place finish in the 5000 meters as well, putting up a time of 18:37.55.
Morgan Serkes and
Monica Strain were the top two finishers for the Saints in the mile, finishing 16
th and 18
th in the event.
Holly Bednarek finished 17
th in the 800 meters, and helped the 4x400 meter relay team along with Serkes, Strain, and
Julia Bryant finish 22
nd as well.
The Saints return to action next weekend on Saturday, Jan. 19 when they head to Ithica for the Upstate Challenge, hosted by Cornell.
