BETHLEHELM, PA – Halfway through their final tournament of the Fall 2019 season, Siena Men's Golf sits in sixth place, shooting +20, 308 in round one of the Lehigh Invitational at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, PA.
MAAC rival Rider (+10, 298) leads the 14-team field entering the final round, with league opponents Iona (fifth, 307) and Monmouth (14th, 323) also participating.
Freshman Moritz Weigold led the way for the Saints, who saw four members of its five-man competing team register multiple birdies in the first round. The Nuremburg, Germany product went under-par four times to finish +3, 75 and land in a tie for eighth place individually.
Playing from the team's top spot, junior captain Jack Brown birdied twice on the Par-72, 7,091-yard course, while freshman Nolan Crowley did so three times, with the pair both shooting +5, 77 to land in a split for 16th place.
Rounding out the five-man squad for the Green and Gold were freshman Jack Tobin (+7, 79) and junior captain Pudge Williams (+8, 80), who will enter the final round of play in ties for 37th and 46th, respectively.
Siena concludes its Fall 2019 season with round two of the Lehigh Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18. All teams will set out from hole 1 with tee times beginning at 10:00 a.m.
