LOUDONVILLE, NY – Defending Patriot League Champion and preseason favorite Army West Point spoiled Siena Baseball's home opener 6-1 at Connors Park. Six different Saints registered one hit apiece in the defeat.
Blake Ledoux delivered a two-out, three-run single in the first inning and Jacob Hurtubise added a two-run single in the sixth to propel Army West Point (13-11). Ledoux finished with two hits and Anthony Giachin added two more and knocked in the sixth run for the Black Knights.
Devan Kruzinski knocked in the lone Siena (4-16) run on an RBI single in the third inning.
Carson Dunkel reached base twice and scored for the Saints.
Four Army West Point pitchers combined to scatter six hits and strikeout eight as part of a staff outing. Meanwhile Siena featured eight hurlers of their own as part of a staff day, with
Brendan Quigley,
John Nolan, and
Mike McCully each striking out a pair of batters apiece as part of their one inning of work.
Siena returns to action Saturday when the Saints open a three-game series at MAAC foe Rider with doubleheader action beginning at noon.
