With outdoor season now in full swing, the Siena men's and women's track teams were in action at the Black and Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University. Siena would pull off multiple top finishes, having team finishes of 7
th for the women, and 9
th for the men in the single day event.
For the women, the Saints would place four runners in the top 10 in the 1,500m run. Senior
Sarah Forman took the top spot in the race with a time of 4:35.42. Junior
Carolyn Pellegrini, sophomore
Morgan Serkes, and freshman
Olivia Lomascolo each finished top 10 as well behind Forman. Pellegrini ended up fifth, while Serkes finished 7
th. Lomascolo rounded out the top 10 as she scored a time of 4:48.68. Serkes also pulled double duty in the women's 800m run, also catching Siena some points with a fifth place finish and a time of 2:21.67. Sophomore
Anya Schmitt took home a second place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:45.79, just over three seconds from a top finish.
For the men,
William Randall and
Jack O'Hara each finished 1-2 in the men's 3,000 steeplechase. Randall finished with a time of 9:25.77, while O'Haha came home with a 9:55.95. Junior
Evans Kibet also scored a win in the men's 1,500m run, finishing first with a time of 3:55.29, almost two and a half seconds faster than the second place finisher. Siena also scored a trio of finishers in the 10,000m run with Aiden Canavan taking the top finish in fourth.
Andrew Canavan finished seventh, with
Owen Walker finishing 10
th to round out the group.
Michael Stoker finished third in the 5000m run with a time of 15:41.54, earing the Saints six points in the process.
Luciano Fiore ran himself to a third place victory, finishing within a few seconds of the leaders. His third place finish would come with a time of 1:55.07. Fiore also pitched in with a solid finish in the 4x400 meter relay with Kibet, Matthew Jaques, and
Ryan Holland, as the squad finished fourth with a time of 3:24.41.
The Saints return on Friday, April 5 when they head to Princeton University for the Sam Howell Invitational.
