LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball worked a season-high 14 walks into 12 runs as the Saints routed A-10 foe Fordham in a 12-0 shutout at Connors Park.
Zach Durfee walked three times to extend his on-base streak to 16 games, while also scoring three runs for the Saints which tallied their 12 runs despite accumulating only four hits.
All 13 position players who saw action reached base for Siena (9-19), with nine scoring runs in a balanced effort.
Devan Kruzinski walked three times and scored twice, while
Brendan Conley and
Evan St. Claire each knocked in a pair of runs apiece.
The Saints built a 4-0 lead through seven innings, before opening the floodgates with an eight-run eighth. Siena sent 11 men to the plate on the benefit of one just hit, which was a two-run homer off the bat of
Tim Carroll for his first career blast.
Eight different hurlers combined on a five-hit shutout on a staff day for the Saints. Freshman
Ben Seiler started and was the lone pitcher to toss multiple innings, as he secured his first collegiate win.
Alvin Melendez notched a pair of hits and stole a base to lead Fordham (21-13).
Siena opens a three-game series Saturday at MAAC rival Manhattan with doubleheader action beginning at noon in Wappingers Falls, New York.
