Senior
Keenan Cook made the most of his senior day at Hickey Field last Saturday afternoon, needing four points coming into the men's lacrosse battle with NJIT to top the 100 point mark for his career. Cook did just that and more, and the Saints rolled to a 20-18 victory over the Highlanders.
With the win, the Saints matched the most goals in a game since 2012, when they scored 22 in a win over Hartford and scored 20 in a win over Marist earlier that season. Siena set new single-game records with 65 shots and 59 ground balls, while Cook led the individual accolades, setting a new career-high in single-game points with eight. He became the 29th overall member into Siena's 100 point club, and the second this season when classmate
Mike Reilly topped the mark as well.
Cook scored four times and added four assists, while Reilly ended up with a four-point day with a goal and three assists. Junior
Brendan Johnson also had a career day, scoring three times with two assists for a five-point showing. Sophomore
Jason Zou also showed out in the faceoff circle, winning 20 times to set the most faceoff wins in five years since Casey Dowd won 22 in a single game. Siena had 12 different goal scorers on the game, with senior
Eric Munn also putting up a three point day with two goals and an assist.
The Titans are 7-4 and 4-2 in MAAC play, coming off an 11-8 loss at the hands of Canisius. Siena and Detroit Mercy are meeting for the 12
th time in the program's history, with the Saints owning a 6-5 advantage all-time. The two schools have played five games within two goals or less, and have split their appearances in the MAAC Tournament 1-1. The Green and Gold own a +8 goal differential over the Titans, but have fallen in the previous two meetings.
