HANOVER, NH – Siena Men's Golf displayed near-record performances both individually and as a team Saturday to begin play at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire. The Saints shot +1, 285 at the Hanover Country Club to round out the day tied for fifth, while Junior Jack Brown went -5, 66 to move into second place.
Leading the charge in the team's second tournament of the 2019-20 campaign, Brown carded seven birdies on the par-71, 6472-yard course to display an 18-hole career low and tie Siena Golf legend Bryan Bigley for the second-lowest 18-hole score in program history. The co-captain will enter the final round of the 36-hole event two strokes behind Drexel's Alex Butler (-7, 64) for the individual lead.
As a team, the Saints' score also tied the second-lowest 18-hole showing in program history, bested only by the team's mark in round three of the 2016 MAAC Championship (284), which led them to their most recent conference championship. The Green and Gold head into Sunday's action six strokes off the lead and knotted with Harvard and Saint Joseph's at the edge of the top-5.
One week after finishing tied for second in his collegiate debut, freshman Jack Tobin shot four birdies to finish -3, 68 in round one, good for a three-way split for fourth individually. Tobin has now gone par or better in three of four rounds to begin his career at Siena.
Rounding out the Saints' five-man competition squad were junior captain Pudge Williams (+4, 75) and freshmen Nolan Crowley (+5, 76) & Moritz Weigold (+6, 77), who each teed off for the second time in as many tournaments this year.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Brody Yates made his debut in the Green and Gold, displaying a pair of birdies to finish +1, 72 on the day.
The Saints will conclude play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday, September 22 with a Shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
