Saints Earn 12 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Selections

Hegarty named Academic All-America finalist as Saints secure the maximum number of selections

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics continued its tradition of excellence in competition and the classroom as 12 student-athletes earned selection to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Teams, announced Tuesday.
 
Representing women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, men's and women's golf, and water polo, the Saints secured the maximum allotment of six men's and six women's selections. The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding achievements both academically and athletically.
 
Leading Siena's honorees was men's lacrosse graduate student Riley Hegarty, who was selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® selections will be announced July 8 for men's at-large sports.
 
To be eligible for consideration, nominees must be at least sophomores academically, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, and either compete in at least 90 percent of their team's contests or start at least 66 percent of games during the season.
 
The CSC At-Large category encompasses sports not included in the organization's primary academic award programs. Eligible sports include women's beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, field hockey, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, water polo, men's volleyball, and wrestling.
 
Named to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Women's Team were women's lacrosse sophomore Grace Jones, women's golf sophomore Julia Kret, women's lacrosse junior Olivia Nicholson, women's lacrosse sophomore Ryann Savage, women's lacrosse junior Elizabeth Wamp, and water polo junior Catherine Williamson.
 
Williamson continues to excel at the highest level both academically and athletically. A marketing major carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA, she earned CSC Academic All-District recognition for the second consecutive season following her second straight MAAC All-Academic Team honor. In the pool, the Grahamstown, South Africa native garnered First Team All-MAAC recognition after leading the conference in goals per game (3.5) and tying for the league lead in points per game (4.3). Despite appearing in only 18 contests, she finished with 63 goals and 78 points—both second-best totals in the MAAC—and became just the sixth player in program history to surpass 200 career goals.
 
Jones, a computer science software development major with a 3.97 GPA, earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors while enjoying a breakout sophomore season. The Hudson, WI native started all 19 games for the MAAC runner-up Saints and established career highs with 23 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers.
 
Nicholson earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second straight year after posting a 3.94 GPA as a business major. A tri-captain and MAAC All-Academic Team selection, the Wantagh, NY native led Siena with career highs of 34 goals and 43 points while adding nine assists, 30 ground balls, and 13 caused turnovers across 19 starts.
 
Wamp paired academic success with all-conference recognition, recording a 3.60 GPA as a business major while earning MAAC All-Academic Team and Second Team All-MAAC honors. The Skaneateles, NY native ranked second on the team with a career-best 30 goals and also set new personal bests in points (31), ground balls (20), caused turnovers (16), and draw controls (18).
 
Savage, a business major with a 3.56 GPA, secured MAAC All-Academic Team recognition while starting all 19 games. The Victor, NY native recorded career highs with 19 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers during her sophomore campaign.
 
Kret rounded out the women's selections after posting a 3.83 GPA as an accounting major. A MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, the Yonkers, NY native competed in nine tournaments and 18 rounds, registering a 79.6 adjusted scoring average. She tallied eight top-25 finishes, including five top-10 and two top-five results, highlighted by a 235 (+19) performance at the MAAC Championships.
 
Representing Siena on the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Men's Team were men's golf junior Gavin Crowley, men's lacrosse senior Vito DeBellis, men's lacrosse graduate students Hegarty and Conor Hufnagel, men's lacrosse senior R.J. Ihlefeld, and men's golf junior Michael McConie.
 
Hegarty made an immediate impact in his lone season with the Saints, earning Academic All-America® finalist status while posting a 3.53 GPA in the Data Analytics graduate certificate program. The Latham, NY native was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, earned First Team All-MAAC honors, and received USILA All-America Honorable Mention recognition. He finished with 23 caused turnovers, 39 ground balls, three goals, and four assists in 17 games.
 
DeBellis combined academic achievement with standout play between the pipes. A finance graduate with a 3.61 GPA and multiple MAAC academic honors, he helped lead Siena to a share of the MAAC regular-season championship and the conference tournament's top seed. The Yorktown Heights, NY native ranked third in the league in goals-against average (10.71) and finished among the MAAC leaders in saves per game and save percentage.
 
Hufnagel earned CSC recognition after completing his master's degree in accounting with a 3.83 GPA. The tri-captain garnered Second Team All-MAAC honors after recording 30 goals and 21 assists for 51 points in 15 games. The Yorktown, NY native produced at least one point in every contest and became the 36th player in program history to reach 100 career points.

Ihlefeld secured CSC Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive season. A finance major carrying a 3.60 GPA, the Fairfield, CT native earned First Team All-MAAC recognition after ranking among the conference leaders in both ground balls and caused turnovers. He totaled 62 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers while appearing in all 17 games and was also named one of 77 Division I recipients of the inaugural Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award.
 
Crowley enjoyed a breakout junior season both in the classroom and on the course. A finance major with a 3.71 GPA and MAAC All-Academic Team selection, the Littleton, CO native earned MAAC All-Championship Team honors after tying for second at the MAAC Championships with a 214 (-2). He finished the year with six top-25 performances.
 
McConie collected CSC Academic All-District honors for the second straight season while maintaining a 3.73 GPA as an accounting major. The Huntington, NY native competed in 11 tournaments and 29 rounds, posting a 76.0 adjusted scoring average. His season included four top-25 finishes and a victory at the Crusader Invitational, where he earned medalist honors with a 136 (-4) on rounds of 67 and 69.
