HAMPDEN, MA – Siena Men's Golf moved up three spots in day two of the UConn Invitational at GREATHORSE in Hampden, Massachusetts Monday, shooting 298 as a team to land alongside Hartford in a tie for sixth (607).
Columbia (584) leads the 14-team field after 36 of 54 holes, with MAAC foes Rider (3rd, 589) Saint Peter's (T-8th, 608) and Canisius (13th, 614) also taking part.
The Saints saw three of five golfers improve during the second time around on the par-72, 7,093-yard course, with junior Jack Brown shooting +1, 73 with a pair of birdies to conclude the day in a tie for 10th individually.
Freshman Moritz Weigold proved to the Saints' big winner in round two, shooting his first collegiate round under par, a -1, 71 with four birdies to retire in a split for 39th. Classmate Nolan Crowley birdied three times en-route to a +4, 72 and a knot for 21st place.
Rounding out the Saints' five-man competition squad for the tournament were freshman Jack Tobin and junior Pudge Williams, who recorded +6, 78 and +7, 79, respectively in round two to land in splits for 53rd and 76th. Tobin found success on the back nine, using the par-4 16th hole to record his first collegiate eagle.
Siena concludes play at the UConn Invitational on Tuesday, October 1, with action commencing at 8:30 a.m. in a double-tee start. The Saints will be among the first flight of the day, teeing off from hole one in 10-minute increments.
