PROVIDENCE, RI – Siena Water Polo (0-1) began its 2020 season by facing a team that has been receiving votes in the CWPA Top-25 since the beginning of the year Friday night. The Saints fell, 14-3, to Brown at the Moran Aquatics Center to kick off weekend action at the Bruno Classic.
Two of the Saint's three scores came from junior Kristen Burger in the first quarter of the game, which proved to be the most competitive for the Green and Gold in the match.
Brown would jet off from a 2-2 tie early in the contest and net eight straight goals before junior Anna Borton got the Saints back on the board in the third period.
Brown's Lily Welser led the Bears with four goals on the evening, while reigning CWPA Rookie of the Week Katie Dvonich scored twice and goalie Lauren Burns registered 14 saves.
Freshman net-minder Anna Mossakowski made her debut in-between-the-pipes for the Saints, making 11 saves during the entirety of the match in-goal.
Siena is back in action at the Bruno Classic on Saturday, February 1, with a pair of matches to begin the weekend. The Saints will battle first-time foe Austin College at 10:30 AM and then face Saint Francis (PA) at 2:15 PM.
