UCF scored the first 11 runs in the opener and pushed across the first six scores in the nightcap to sweep doubleheader action over Siena Baseball in Orlando. The Knights took the middle games of the season opening four-game series by scores of 11-4 and 9-1.
Game One: UCF 11, Siena 4
UCF (3-0) erupted for 11 unanswered runs over the first five innings while scoring in each frame to take the first of two. The Knights were led by a 2-4, three-RBI performance from Josh Crouch, while Connor Allen added a pair of runs scored and RBI.
Siena (0-3) accounted for all four of their runs during the sixth inning. The Saints batted around, collecting four of their nine hits in the frame highlighted by RBI singles from
Matt Livingston and
Devan Kruzinski.
Trevor Holloway scattered three hits over five shutout innings while walking just one and striking out nine to pick up the win for UCF.
Kruzinski, Livingston, and
Eddie Sweeney each recorded a pair of hits apiece for Siena, while
Noah Rubino pitched four solid innings of relief allowing just one run on two hits.
Game Two: UCF 9, Siena 1
UCF scored the first six runs over the opening five innings before putting things away with a three-run seventh. Ben Rushing delivered a three-run homer during the decisive four-run fourth, while Tom Josten added three hits and a home run.
Siena was limited to just four hits, with
Alex Milone bringing home Kruzinski for the lone run on a sixth inning sacrifice fly.
Will Hearn was strong in relief in his collegiate debut, striking out three over 1.2 hitless innings to close out the contest.
Hunter Patteson secured the win for UCF, allowing just two hits and one run while walking three and striking out seven over 5.1 innings.
Siena and UCF wrap up their season-opening four-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
