The Saints bring back all but three players from last year's roster that had so much success, including All-MAAC First Teamers and 2020 Preseason All-MAAC selections
Kerry Gerety and
Therese Pitman. However, the Saints will look to fill the void left in goal by defending MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year
Sammy Horton with junior transfer
Ally Mervine, who receives the nod to take over in between the pipes for the Green and Gold. Also making a return and also named to the Preseason All-MAAC team will be senior
Annie Brennan and junior
Nicole McNeely.
The Saints brought home 69 total points and two first place votes after being picked to finish third in the MAAC Preseason Poll. Finishing ahead of the Green and Gold in a tie for first were the Fairfield Stags and Monmouth Hawks, each pulling in 70 total points. Monmouth would earn seven first place votes, while Fairfield would match the Saints with two first place votes. The Saints defeated Monmouth in last season's MAAC Semifinal 16-15 to earn their spot in the MAAC Championship game.
Both Gerety and McNeely each set new program heights last year, as the duo set the top two scoring performances in a single season. Gerety would top McNeely, finishing with 41 goals and 31 assists for 72 total points. McNeely would collect 46 goals and 24 assists for 70 points. Both would also be the first two players to crack 70 points in a single season in program history, as the previous top single season points total came from Caitlin Mikel in 2010 when she scored 46 goals and 21 assists for 67 points.
After their opener at Brown, the Saints to return home for their home opener, as the squad will face off against Columbia on Saturday afternoon at Hickey Field, with the opening draw at 12 PM.
