LOUDONVILLE, NY – Fifth-year Selena Philoxy has been granted a waiver for serving a year in residence following her transfer to Siena from Stetson University last December. The waiver grants Philoxy immediate eligibility, in this her final season of eligible collegiate competition. Philoxy is slated to make her Siena debut Saturday in the Saints home opener against Duquesne at 2 p.m.

"We are excited to get a quality player like Selena into the lineup this season," said head coach Jim Jabir. "She will bring toughness and energy to the court, and the dimension she will bring to our game is great. We can't wait to get her out there to compete."
 
Philoxy did not appear at Stetson, spending the fall of 2020 with the Hatters. Prior to her time with Stetson, Philoxy starred at Seton Hall where she played in 80 games over three seasons for the Pirates, making 26 starts. She averaged 5.5 points and 7.6 rebounds as a sophomore, ranking sixth in the BIG EAST in overall rebounding and third in conference play (7.6). She would put up 21 rebounds at Xavier on Jan. 6, 2019, marking the third-highest single-game rebound total in program history.
 
A native of Queens, NY, Philoxy played at South Shore High School, earning a News 12 All-Metro Second Team selection as a senior. She scored 19 points in the New York State Federation Class AA Championship to lead South Shore to its second straight title. She would also lead the Lady Vikings to a PSAL Class AA title during her junior season, averaging 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per-game. Philoxy was also named the Brooklyn Daily Player of the Year, a NYSSWA Third Team All-State selection, and a News 12 Varsity First Team NYC selection during her high school career.
