LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Siena Women's Basketball is back in action on Sunday afternoon, and it will be to defend the Albany Cup as they head across town to take on the UAlbany Great Danes. Tipoff at SEFCU Arena will get things going at 2 p.m.
Tickets at SEFCU Arena can be purchased online or at the arena, with prices ranging from $10 for most seats, and $20 for courtside seating. Children 12 and under can receive a $7 ticket in their reserved bleacher section. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time through the corresponding links or on game day at the SEFCU Arena ticket window.
The Saints (0-7) look to bounce back after a loss on Saturday afternoon, and they fell just short of victory against the Colgate Raiders by a final score of 56-54. Despite falling to 0-7, Siena now has fell by no more than 10 points in each game, with three losses this season by a margin of four points or less. Margo Peterson, who scored a team-high 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 from behind the arc. Peterson also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Fifth-year

Amari Anthony was the other Siena player in double-figures with 11 points.
Siena and UAlbany meet for the 23
rd time, with the series currently tied 11-all in the matchups. In the series history, the Saints are 0-1 overall at SEFCU Arena. The last game across town as an 88-86 overtime loss to the Great Danes in 2016-17. The two victories not in the Times Union Center or UHY Center came in 1978-79 and 1980-81 came in UAlbany's PE Building, which was the home for the Great Danes until 1992. The last victory at the PE Building came on Feb. 2, 1981 as the Saints defeated the Great Danes 99-45. A total 11 of the 22 matchups between the schools have come in downtown Albany at the Times Union Center. The last matchup there came in 2015-16.
The last time the two teams met, the Saints won their first game in nine tries against the Great Danes in a 52-46 victory at the UHY Center in front of a capacity crowd of 2,148 people in the stands. Siena would end the game on a 9-0 run, and outscore the Great Danes 17-6 in the final frame.
Siena was led by an 18-point day from senior Sabrina Piper, who finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, and five steals. Junior
Rayshel Brown scored 15 points for the second straight game, adding a trio of rebounds and steals. Junior
Marilena Gerostergiou had a career game on the boards, snagging 15 rebounds, five coming on the offensive glass in the win. As a team, the Green and Gold forced 22 turnovers, converting that into 21 points from those turnovers.
The Great Danes are coming off a 52-41 loss at Vanderbilt on Wednesday afternoon. Junior Helene Haegerstrand leads the team with 77 points (11.0 per game), shooting a team-high 50.0% (15-30) from outside the arc. Senior Lucia Decortes leads the team with a 57.1 field goal percentage (16-28). On the rebound, sophomore Kayla Cooper leads the team with 44 (6.3 per game). Cooper also leads with 29 defensive rebounds, while Decortes holds a team-high 16 offensive rebounds. Of the 394 points scored in five games, the UAlbany bench has tallied 152 points. This includes half (26) of the 52 points scored at Merrimack and almost half (29) of the 60 points scored against Bryant. As a team, UAlbany is hitting 40.4% from the field, 35.3% outside the arc, and 61.6% from the free-throw line. The Great Danes are averaging 56.3 points per game, 36.1 rebounds per game, and 13.1 assists per game.
