BOSTON, MA – Two school records fell in Siena Cross Country & Track's return to indoor track action Saturday evening, with four runners taking part in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Standouts Brandon Olden and Olivia Lomascolo each set new program marks in the 5,000-meter race for their respective team, marking the second straight time that two records were set for Siena at this event (2019).
Lomascolo re-set her own record in the 5,000 that was run back in May during the 2021 MAAC Outdoor Track Championships, turning in a time of 16:46.93 for a 41st place finish overall. The senior tore down the old indoor program mark of 17:17.73, set by Carolyn Pellegrini in March 2020. Lomascolo was joined in the race by junior Keira Cohen, who made her collegiate indoor track debut with the fifth fastest indoor time in school history at 17:29.88.
Olden took down a long-standing mark to record his first record in Green and Gold, finishing 44th overall with a time of 14:10.71. The result set the 5,000-meter record by 16 seconds, with the old mark run by Siena Hall of Famer Rich Coughlin back in 1982 (14:26). The junior also surpassed program legend, Hall of Famer Tom Dalton for the indoor record, surpassing the old mark of 14:40. Olden was joined in the race by sophomore Tom Ragone, who recorded a mark of 15:22.39.
Having now concluded competition for the calendar year, Siena will pick up indoor track season next month for a full slate of action.
