Both the Siena men's and women's golf teams took part in their second events of the Spring 2021 season Friday, teeing off at the Hartford/Wintonbury Hills Invitational at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield, CT. Both squads placed third out of their respective seven-team competition fields on the par-70 white course.
The men's team shot +8, 288, to finish 10 strokes behind team winner Hartford and ahead of MAAC counterpart Fairfield (+22, 302), who also participated. The women carded +33, 313 as a team to finish behind MAAC foes Quinnipiac (+21, 301) and Fairfield (+26, 306).
Senior Jack Brown secured his first top-5 individual finish on the year, shooting even, 70 on the day to lead Siena's competition squad. The Hudson, New Hampshire native carded his eighth career round of par-or-better, moving him into a three-way tie for 6th-most in program history. Sophomore Nolan Crowley and Senior Pudge Williams each carded +2, 72 to land among a seven-way tie for eighth. Sophomore Jack Tobin tied for 20th place individually at +4, 74, while junior Brody Yates shot +5, 75 to split for 26th. Competing as individuals, freshman Jack Hamilton placed in a tie for 26th as well, while classmate Andy Knoll shot +7, 77 to land in a split for 35th and senior Ryan Kelley (+11, 81) tied for 44th.
The women's squad was led by sophomore Isabella Diaz, who shot +7, 77 to land in a three-way tie for ninth place individually. Classmate Emily Nash split for 12th at +8, 78, while senior Grace Cuttone and freshman Margot Osterman finished a stroke behind to split for 15th place individually. Junior Lena Kaufman rounded out the Saints' competition squad by shooting +11, 81 to knot for 24th.
Both teams will continue their Spring 2021 seasons next week, with the women traveling to New Jersey for a dual match with MAAC foe Monmouth on Monday, March 29, and the men taking part in the UConn Collegiate Invitational April 1-3.
