Siena Basketball Caps Regular Season With Decisive Series vs. Canisius

Saints in Search of Program's Ninth MAAC Regular Season Championship

LOUDONVILLE, NY - Siena Basketball looks to secure the program's ninth MAAC Regular Season Championship and second straight when the Saints host Canisius Thursday and Friday to close out regular season action on campus at the UHY Center. Both games are set for 7 p.m., and will be televised locally in the Capital Region on My4 Albany, in addition to being broadcast on ESPN3.

Due to current COVID-19 protocols enacted by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Council of Presidents, fans are not permitted to attend Siena home games at this time.

Robert Lee and Kelly O'Donnell have the call of both games this weekend locally on My4 Albany and elsewhere on ESPN3. My4 Albany is televised locally in the Capital Region over the air on Channel 51, and is available to Spectrum subscribers on Channel 4. Check your local listings for more information. ESPN3 is available on smartphones and tablets via the ESPN app, and on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Additionally, all Siena Basketball broadcasts are also now available to watch for international viewers courtesy of the MAAC and SIDEARM Sports by clicking the corresponding links.

Pregame coverage commences at 6:30 p.m. both days locally on Talk1300 AM and 98.7 FM with A.J. Kanell and Conner Fenlon '12 on the call. Complimentary online audio of the broadcast can also be accessed by clicking the corresponding link at the top of the page.

Siena (11-3, 11-3) enters the final series of the regular season in control of its own destiny for the No. 1 seed in next week's Hercules Tires MAAC Basketball Championships in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The magic number for the Saints is one - one win or one Monmouth loss in their series at Rider would clinch Siena the No. 1 seed as well as the program's ninth MAAC Regular Season Championship and second straight.

Meanwhile Canisius (6-4, 6-4) has played just four games since Jan. 2 following a multitude of COVID-19 related pauses. However, the Golden Griffins have won five of six since the start of the New Year, with their lone defeat coming in their most recent game at Fairfield on Feb. 20. Canisius enters the series in a four-way tie for sixth place in the MAAC Standings, with the opportunity to finish as high as fifth.

Siena leads the all-time series with Canisius 55-49, although the Griffs have won 12 of the past 16 matchups. However, the Saints are an impressive 36-9 (.800) at home vs. Canisius during the program's Division I era.
