Siena Outdoor Track continued a stretch of competing at three events within the span of a week at the Monmouth Spring Invite Sunday at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, New Jersey. The Saints competed against 10 other schools including MAAC counterparts Iona, Manhattan, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, and Rider.
The Green and Gold started things off by putting forth impressive results in the 10,000-meter race, with sophomore
Brandon Olden winning the event with a time of 30:37.64, good for the second-best mark in program history next to Siena Hall of Famer
Tom Dalton. Senior
Stosh Davis (30:49.28) placed fourth for the third best time in program history. On the women's end, seniors
Carissa Kahn (37:06.10) and
Mia Forster (37:26.08) and sophomore
Elaine Atanasova (37:55.30) placed second, third and fourth, respectively, with Kahn's mark good for the fourth best in program history.
Freshman
Katharine Hesler once again competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing fifth with a new personal best time of 11:53.25, while sophomore
Tommy Anderson (9:48.95) and freshman
Jimmy Smith (9:56.18) took fourth and fifth, respectively, on the men's side. The Saints once again put forth a strong showing in the 5000-meter event, with junior
Olivia Lomascolo placing second with a time of 17:29.11, and senior
Cole DiGiacomo leading the way with a 13
th place finish on the men's end at 15:57.47.
Continuing what has been a strong spring campaign, senior
Morgan Serkes took third place in the 1500-meter race with a new personal best time of 4:35.02, giving her the second-fastest mark in the event in program history. Sophomore
Matthew Laframboise (3:56.69) placed ninth to lead Siena's men's competitors.
Siena rounded out the day with select competitors in the 800-meter race during the meet's afternoon session. Senior
Ryan Holland placed eighth on the men's side with a time of 1:56.46.
The Green and Gold will be back on the track to round out the 2021 regular season on Friday, April 23, when runners head west to compete at the UB Twilight Invitational in Buffalo, New York.
