Siena Men's Golf (+8, 296) got off to a sixth place start while Siena Women's Golf (+43, 331) positioned themselves in seventh to being the 2021 MAAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships, held at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Following day one of the 54-hole event on the par-72 course, Iona (-5, 283) leads the way for the men, while Quinnipiac (+16, 304) holds the top spot for the women. The Gaels are looking to defend their title from 2019, while women's defending champion UAlbany sits in second, five strokes off the lead.

Participating in its 31
st MAAC Championship event and looking to get back the top spot for the first time since 2016, the Saints were led by junior
Brody Yates on the men's side, who carded his first career round of part or better, 1, 71 with four birdies, to land in a tie for sixth individually after the first round.

th place, while senior

Jack Tobin shot +5, 77 with two birdies apiece to land in a knot for 31

The women were steadied by a fantastic performance from senior
Grace Cuttone, who recorded three birdies to go +2, 74 and finish in a tie for second place individually. Sophomore
Emily Nash was the other Saint to record a birdie on the day, shooting +6, 78 to land in a split for 14
th.

Isabella Diaz began her first MAAC Tournament appearance by carding +16, 88 to finish in a tie for 38
th individually. Junior

Ashlee Sample (+23, 44) rounded out the team's five-women competition squad in 41

th place, respectively.

Both Saints squads will head back out to the course for day two action at the 2021 MAAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships on Saturday, April 24. The women will tee off beginning at 7:30 AM from hole 10 alongside La Salle and Niagara, while the men will begin play on hole one at 8:15 AM next to Rider and Canisius.
