Golf Teams Place Seventh at 2021 MAAC Championships

Brody Yates and Grace Cuttone Earned All-MAAC Honors for Their Respective Teams

Both Siena's men's and women's golf teams closed out the 2021 MAAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships with seventh place finishes and one golfer each earning All-MAAC honors Sunday afternoon at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Following a suspension of play for nearly three hours, round three action was abbreviated from 18 holes to nine due to inclement weather.

Iona (+5, 755) captured its third straight title on the men's side, while Rider's Austin Devereaux (-6, 174) became the first Bronc ever to claim individual medalist honors. Quinnipiac (+30, 750) took home the title on the women's end, while Hartford's Maria Loza (+1, 181) won individual medalist honors. Siena shot +21, 741 as a team on the men's end to fall short of Canisius and Monmouth by one stroke, while the women carded +89, 809.

Capping off a breakout performance that featured his second straight top-5 individual finish, junior Brody Yates took home his first career All-MAAC honors by shooting +3, 183 to land in a seven-way tie for fifth place on the weekend. The Essex Junction, Vermont native clinches Siena's 35 top-10 individual finish at the MAAC Championship and marked the seventh straight year of competition that Siena has boasted an All-MAAC finisher on the men's side.

Rounding out one of the best Siena careers put together, senior Jack Brown completed an impressive turnaround to card +4, 184 and tie for 12th individually on the weekend. The Hudson, New Hampshire product leaves Siena inside the individual program top-10 in several categories, including career stroke average, top-10 finishes, and rounds in the 60's.

Freshman Jack Hamilton concluded his first campaign in the Green and Gold with +7, 187 on the weekend to split for 23rd, while sophomore Nolan Crowley shot +8, 188 to land in a knot for 26th. Finally, sophomore Jack Tobin tied for 34th on the weekend with +14, 194.

Capping a memorable career in Loudonville that will leave her inside the program's top-5 in career stroke average, senior Grace Cuttone shot +5, 185 on the weekend to earn her first-ever All-MAAC finish. The Bernardsville, New Jersey native logged the program's 30 top-10 individual MAAC finish and continued a streak in which the Saints have had a top-10 finisher in all 11 years that the award has been given in women's golf.

After transferring into Siena mid-year and almost immediately taking the course for the 2021 spring season, sophomore Emily Nash completed a successful campaign by finishing 15th individually at +16, 196. Classmate Isabella Diaz wrapped her first MAAC Tournament experience in a split for 34th place with +30, 214, while junior Lena Kaufman placed 38th at +38, 218. Sophomore Ashlee Sample finished 45th after withdrawing on the final round.

Both Siena Golf programs will now look forward to the 2021-22 season, which is expected to return to normal operations in the fall.
