Siena Water Polo maintained a strong presence in the classroom throughout the 2020-21 academic year, placing a program record eight student athletes on the 2021 MAAC All-Academic Team, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 89 water polo student athletes were named to this year's squad, with Marist leading the way at 16 honorees.
Senior
Kristen Burger was named to the team for the third time in her collegiate career, while classmate
Sophia Torres and juniors
Bianca Prinsloo and
Georgia Vargas earned their second MAAC All-Academic honors. Sophomores
Lily Graham,
Sydney Jones,
Anna Mossakowski, and
Maggie Verduijn took home All-Academic honors for the first time.
Siena held a 3.47 cumulative GPA following the Fall 2020 semester, including a 3.42 term GPA. Nine student athletes were named to the Siena Dean's List following the fall semester for holding GPAs over 3.5 for the term.
