Monmouth Finishes Off Sweep of Siena Baseball

Hawks Take All Four From Saints

Monmouth completed a four-game sweep of Siena Baseball by taking both ends of Saturday's twin bill on the Jersey Shore. The Hawks captured the opener 2-0 and the nightcap 13-1.

Game 1: Monmouth 2, Siena 0 (7)
Rob Hensey outdueled Connor Bovair in a pitcher's duel in the opener. Hensey went six strong scattering four hits and striking out four without issuing a walk to earn the win in the scheduled seven-inning affair.

Bovair went the distance for Siena (3-6), striking out a season-high nine over his six innings of work.

Monmouth (11-1) scored both of their runs in the second, on a leadoff homer from Alex Barker and an RBI single by Jake Catalano.

Devan Kruzinski recorded two of the Saints' four hits.

Game 2: Monmouth 13, Siena 1 (7)
The Hawks erupted for eight runs in the third to cruise to their 11th straight win in a seven-inning mercy rule shortened affair. Monmouth has outscored its opposition 68-18 during its win streak.

Johnny Zega recorded a pair of hits, stole a base, and drove in three runs to pace Monmouth. His RBI single opened the scoring in the decisive third inning, in which he drove in a second run on a bases loaded hit batsman later in the frame.

Siena broke through with an RBI double in the fourth by Jake Hall to score Kruzinski. Willie Schwarick went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate for the Saints who've dropped six straight.

Following the previously announced postponement of Wednesday's doubleheader at Marist, the Saints are scheduled to return to action next weekend for a four-game series at Quinnipiac beginning with doubleheader action Saturday at noon.
