Angie Jabir Appointed Senior Associate AD/SWA

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio has announced the hiring of Angie Jabir as Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator. Jabir possesses nearly a decade of senior collegiate athletics administrative experience, highlighted by five years at the University of Dayton.

"Siena is fortunate to have someone as accomplished and experienced as Angie joining our team," said D'Argenio. "Her various levels of experience in collegiate athletics – including in senior leadership – will be a tremendous benefit to both our student athletes and coaches, and make our athletic department better."

Jabir has been a senior collegiate athletic department administrator since 2012, serving at Lynn University (2019-21), Nova Southeastern University (2017-19), and the University of Dayton (2012-17). She was previously an assistant women's basketball coach for the Flyers (2009-12), as well as at Cleveland State University (2006-09), and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2002-04).

Jabir was appointed to the NCAA Division II Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct in September, and was a member of the NCAA Division II Rowing Committee while at Nova Southeastern. She is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA), having participated in the 2019 Executive Institute, and is part of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA).

"I am truly humbled and honored to join the Siena College community and Siena Athletics family," noted Jabir. "I want to thank John D'Argenio for the opportunity to serve our outstanding student athletes, coaches, and staff as we engage with our campus to provide our Saints with the 'Education for a Lifetime' while striving for excellence in their athletic pursuits."

Jabir began her collegiate athletics administrative career during the final five years of her eight-year tenure at Dayton. She served as the Director of Business and Student Services from 2012-14 and as an Assistant Athletic Director from 2014-15, before concluding her stint as the Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration from 2015-17. Jabir was in charge of the sport oversight for the Flyers' nationally prominent volleyball program, as well as the women's soccer, softball, and men's and women's tennis squads. She managed the Athletics Office of Academic Services, and led the University of Dayton's strategic planning efforts, ensuring the athletic department's place in the overall University strategic plan. Additionally, Jabir developed the Women's Coaches Forum. While she served in her business role, she managed Dayton Athletics' then $26 million annual operating budget.

Jabir then served for two years as the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, Sport Administration, and Business Services/SWA at DII Nova Southeastern. She was the sport administrator for 10 teams, while supervising all of the athletic department's business operations and human resource functions. Jabir aided in the development and implementation of Nova Southeastern's "AIM" program focused on improving mental health for NSU's student athletes, which was recognized by the Sunshine State Conference as an industry-leading approach in Division II collegiate athletics.

Jabir joins the Saints after having spent the previous two years as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator at Division II Lynn University. She was second in command for the noted Fighting Knights Athletic Department, where she was involved in the decision making for all 19 athletic programs, 14 head coaches, and over 380 student athletes. Jabir oversaw the internal functions of the athletic department, including the development of policies and procedures, budgetary oversight, sport performance and healthcare administration, and supervision of student athlete conduct. She was also one of four Title IX deputies at the University.

Jabir first entered the collegiate ranks as a women's basketball assistant coach for eight years, concluding with a three-year stint at Dayton. She helped guide the Flyers to a 69-27 (.719) record and NCAA Tournament berths in all three years she spent on the bench, including a Second Round appearance in 2010 and an Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship in 2012. Jabir helped lead Cleveland State to a Horizon League Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007-08. She started her coaching career as an assistant at Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2002.

A native of La Crosse, Wisconsin, Jabir earned her B.A. in Speech Communication in 2000 from Eastern Illinois University, where she was a member of the women's basketball team from 1997-01. She received her Master of Science in Athletic Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2002.

The former Angie Russell, Jabir is married to Siena Women's Basketball Head Coach Jim Jabir. The couple are the proud parents to son Jude.
